The Citizen's Energy Challenge Committee was established by the Richmond Town Council on October 3, 2017. The Committee is made up of a group of unpaid volunteers who have expressed an interest in coordinating the Town’s participation in the Rhode Island Energy Challenge.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The committee shall:
1. Serve as public advocates for energy conservation.
2. Take part in the Town’s efforts to engage at least 102 Richmond households in the Richmond Energy Challenge, a number representing five percent of the households in Richmond, as reported in the 2010 U.S. Census.
3. Assist with publicity and other public outreach to obtain volunteer participants and provide educational material and other assistance to participating households.
4. Advise the Town Council and the Town Administrator on short-term and long-term strategies to promote energy efficiency, save on energy costs, and reduce the environmental impacts of energy usage by the Town and by households and businesses in Richmond.
The committee shall terminate on December 31, 2019 unless extended by further action of the Town Council.
The committee shall consist of five Richmond residents appointed by the Town Council from among volunteers, and one Town employee. Members shall serve for the life of the committee. If a vacancy occurs in the membership, the Town Council shall appoint another volunteer to serve the remainder of the term.
